Yestreday’s maths task was based on 3d shapes and volume. We first learnt about circles (diameter and radius) and used this tool called campus. This was very fun and interesting to do and learn. I hope you have enjoyed this post. Please leave a positive comment on my blog.
House Captain Chants
Last week I filmed and edited the House Captain chants. I filmed all the House Captains chanting their chants. This is because we have upcoming sport events and each house needs to learn their chant. We share this on PENN every day (except Friday) so that everyone can learn their one. I had fun and enjoyed it. I’m in Blue Hinemoana. I hope you have enjoyed this post. Team Challenges!
Today for home class we are discovering our treaty ideas. We first shared and talked about all values we all value the most. Respect was one of them. Next we were put into groups. My group consisted of Aaron, Tumanako and Amira. This was so that we can work together and do our team challenges.
Our first challenge was a paper bridge, where we had to balance a squishy dice on the bridge. We made two triangles as the base and stacked two pieces of paper on top of it. It was a success and we were happy about it.
Our next challenge was to build the tallest tower out of straws. My entire group had different ideas and went our separate ways (not really). After we saw how good all our ideas were, we decided to combine them together. Together we made the tallest tower which I thought was impressive. We added too many straws and our tower ended up falling down. Overall it was still fun.
Our second to last challenge was a cup game. We had to tie four pieces of string to the rubber band. Each of us had to tug on one end and make a tower of cups. My team was very excited and steady while we were doing this activity. We were the quickest team to finish which made us absolutely thrilled.
Our final challenge was to make the tallest tower out of cups the quickest. We decided to do one upside down and the other upside up and keep on stacking. It was unbalanced and fell so we went with stacking the cups in a pyramid form.
I’ve learnt quite a lot about teamwork, communication, listening, participating, and so much more. I hope you have enjoyed this post. Please leave a positive comment on my blog.
Maths – Circles!
Today for maths we learnt more about perimeter and area. We have done squares, rectangles, triangles, and now we are on circles. This was really tricky but I know if I keep on trying I will know this off by heart. I hope you have enjoyed this post. Please leave a positive comment on my blog.
Maths – Area of Triangles
Today for maths we learnt about perimeter and area. We had to learn how to find the area (times) and the perimeter (add all sides). We did different squares and triangles. I hope you have enjoyed this post. Please leave a positive comment on my blog.
Writing – This is just to say
This writing task was based on something naughty or silly we did when we were young. I thought this was a really fun and creative activity to do. I shared my moment/poem on the last slide. I hope you have enjoyed this post. Please leave a positive comment on my blog.
Literacy – Commonwealth Games
Today’s literacy (home class) task was based on the Commonwealth games. It is a multi-sport event that happens every four years. We read and answered questions about the Commonwealth games. Kiarah and I made an add for the Commonwealth game. I hope you have enjoyed this post. Please leave a positive comment on my blog.
Maths – Reading Scales
Today for home class we did a quick maths task. It was about reading different scales. I found this interesting and fun to learn. I hope you have enjoyed this post. Please leave a positive comment on my blog.
Korero – Give It A Go!
This week’s korero was “Give It A Go”. The prefects and house captains made a movie for the korero. I filmed some parts and edited the movie. We also had some help from other people and kids. I really liked the way the movie turned out and I’m quite proud of it. I hope you have enjoyed this post. Please leave a positive comment on my blog.
Literacy – Fortnite Debate
Yesterday for literacy we did a debate but we got to choose which one we wanted to do. I chose fortnite, should fortnite be banned? Here is my writing/reasons why fortnite should be banned. I hope you have enjoyed this post. Please leave a positive comment on my blog.
- Fortnite is an additive online game. Kids are addicted and play for many hours. They should do something more productive and focus on something else.
- Gaming/Fortnite can cause mental health issues, ADHD, social anxiety, gaming disorder and depression. They should be talking and playing with friends outside in real life instead of talking and playing with strangers online.
- It can be dangerous talking with strangers online, especially for children under the age of 12. Kids will be exposed to inappropriate language and things (like images, videos, etc).
- Fortnite is gabling in a certain way. Kids use their parent’s credit cards to buy things. To conclude this, these are my reasons why Fortnite should be banned and why kids under the age of 12 shouldn’t be allowed to play.
